James Burnette -- was born in Japan and raised on a US Air Force base where his father worked as a science teacher.  Initially interested in the sciences, he has a B.S. in physics from the Polytechnic Institute of NYU (Brooklyn Poly) and an M.Eng. in electrical engineering from the University of Buffalo (SUNY).  Recent injustices involving the attempted privatization and development of public wetlands had forced him unwillingly into political activism, and he has never been able to extricate himself since… citing reasons such as opposition to WTO (World Trade Organization) and NAFTA, which undercut US manufacturing.

Hi everybody, I've been out on hiatus for the fall 2011 semester, trying to bag an associates degree in Environmental Science from the local community college.  Of course I didn't finish, but considerable progress was made in an effort to formalize my interests.  I'll have to quit school for a while and get back to work, but will try to continue my duties as CoLF editor. -- JHBurnette  29 Dec, 2011
